The Doheny Ocean Desalination Project will construct a seawater desalination facility in Dana Point, California, capable of producing 5 million gallons per day to bolster the region’s drought resilience.
Uniquely, the facility will be the only one in the state to implement the California Ocean Plan’s preferred methods for seawater intake and brine discharge outfall. These methods reduce impacts to nearby ocean life, promoting government and public support for the project.
Mark Donovan, North American Water Treatment and Desalination Lead for GHD, tells us more about the project.
